Plymouth, the largest city in Devon and Cornwall, is an ideal choice for touring the area. The city has an ever changing shopping precinct with plentiful fine restaurants and hostelries. A variety of indoor and outdoor activities plus entertainment centres are in abundance.
View from the Hoe – one of the finest natural harbours in the world giving access to the Naval Dockyard and continental ferry port (Brittany Ferries for Spain and France) and visit the historic Barbican with quaint cobbled streets, art galleries and antique shops plus even more restaurants and hostelries.
The National Marine Aquarium and many yacht marinas are nearby plus the H.M.S. Scylla diving experience. Various National Trust properties which include Saltram House and the stunning Cotehele House with its tremendous gardens, all steeped in history and romance, along with Buckland Abbey, once the home of Sir Francis Drake are near to the city.
To the North lies Dartmoor, with ever changing scenery and quaint villages. To the East, Dartmouth and the South Hams have glorious bays and inlets on the coast. To the West are the picturesque fishing villages and history of Cornwall including the Eden Project and numerous beautiful gardens.
A majority of the local Restaurants are sensational - they really do have to be sampled to be believed, fresh Barbican fish, the finest Lamb, Steaks cooked to perfection, complimented by excellent Wines. We can recommend one to suit your taste...
