Jeakes House stands on one of the most beautiful ancient cobbled streets of Rye, and today plays host to the discerning guest who wants to re-capture the feel of history while at the same time enjoy a high standard of accommodation.
Each room in this historic building has been individually restored to create its own special atmosphere, combining traditional elegance and luxury with modern amenities. From the gallery on the first floor you can look down on the dramatic dining room, which covers a font used by Rye Baptists in 1753, when the original Quakers House was re-built as a chapel. The pews from the chapel have been used to furnish our book lined bar honesty bar, which is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a drink.
There is a wide choice of traditional or vegetarian breakfasts including Devilled Kidneys and Smoked Haddock. We also offer a delicious selection of fruit, cereals and homemade preserves. The soft chamber music, airy setting and unhurried tempo will provide the perfect start to any day.
The bedrooms are furnished with antiques and all have televisions, hairdryers, telephones and hospitality trays and some have lavish four-poster beds. Many a window offers a tantalising glimpse of our steep, cobbled mermaid street, the rooftops of Rye or hints of Romney Marsh.
