Sandown has been run by the Eastwood family since 1988 and Mark & Georgeene are the next generation to run it, having lovingly refurbished Sandown to a high standard in May 2011. Sandown always offers an informal & friendly stay to all guests at excellent value for money.

The true jewel in our crown we feel is our location. Sandown has a perfect location in Bowness-on-Windermere, in the heart of the English Lake District; being in a quiet yet central position but at the same time only a 5 minute gentle stroll to Lake Windermere and only a few minute's walk to the village of Bowness. Unlike many guesthouses with a central location, there is private parking for all guests within the grounds.

Bowness offers the ideal base for anyone visiting The Lake District as it has many excellent and well established restaurants, specialist and boutique shops, tea shops, wine bars and naturally old English pubs. Also from the Bowness Pier you can enjoy a trip on the many Lake cruises which leave throughout each day for Ambleside or Lakeside where you can also take a ride on the Lakeside steam train. Alternatively from our front door you are already only minutes away from breathtaking views and many beautiful scenic walks or hikes, we provide walk sheets and maps for most of the local walks.

It if you fancy a change from walking/shopping there are many other experiences to enjoy including golf, fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, off roading, historic houses, safari parks.
