Nearby is a small restaurant and bar, which is very handy for our guests as it is only a five minute walk away, they serve home cooked meals at reasonable prices and because they are so popular, I often prebook a table for our guests beforehand if they wish to eat there.
The other pub also nearby, serves traditional ale and tasty bar meals. The city of Carlisle is well worth a visit, the castle, cathedral, tullie house museum, and the old town centre offer the visitor a wealth of historical information. It has an excellent shopping centre and there are lots of coffee shops and tea rooms for tired shoppers.
There are many interesting short walks around Carlisle and the beautiful Lake District, take the steam ferry boat across the lake and admire the views in comfort.
