In a peaceful, secluded valley between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe hidden from the road behind a band of tall trees, this splendid 18th-century country house is surrounded by gardens, woodland and streams with plenty of free parking. An ideal location for enjoying the vast, sandy beaches of North Devon's Golden Coast or exploring the wonders of Exmoor.
The hotel has spacious, well equipped rooms individually furnished with generous hospitality trays many of the rooms retaining their original period features. We take pride in the relaxed, friendly atmosphere of our family run hotel. Our breakfasts are freshly prepared to order using local ingredients and we are able to offer a choice for vegetarians also, with prior notice, we will try to cater for other special dietary requirements. The hotel is licensed so you are most welcome to relax and unwind in our comfortable Bar where in the winter months you will find a roaring log fire. Alternatively you could take your drinks downstairs to our Games Room and enjoy a game of Darts, Pool or try your hand at traditional Bar Billiards or Shove Ha'penny.
Remarkably all of this is only a pleasant 20 minute walk from Ilfracombe with its beautiful harbour, shops, Landmark Theatre and other attractions. The walk down the lane follows the stream as it makes its way through Ilfracombe's awarding winning Bicclescombe Park. The hotel is also adjacent to an entrance to the Cairn Nature Reserve which is an enjoyable walk offering spectacular views across Ilfracombe and over the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast.
There is much to do in North Devon in all seasons so the hotel is open all year round to enable guests to enjoy the many attractions or golf, walking, surfing or shooting breaks. If this is your first trip to North Devon be sure to make time to visit Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth, Dunster or to take a boat to Devon's own Altantic Island Lundy. There are also a number of beautiful gardens most notably RHS Rosemoor.

Additional Information
The hotel is set in 2 acres which guests are welcome to enjoy or simply sit and watch for the variety of birds and wildlife that live in the valley. Fully licensed, we are always happy to serve drinks in the Bar in the evenings where you are welcome to simply relax and chat, watch TV or play with our collection of games. Downstairs we have a Games Room with Darts, Pool, Bar Billiards and Shove Ha'penny. We also have a small library of books and DVD's which guests are welcome to borrow.Dining Facilities
We have a spacious dining room which has views across the valley. On sunny mornings this is very bright and the doors can be opened for guests to take their drinks onto the balcony.
